THIS IS NOT A CRIME (This is just a play)

This is not a crime, this is just a play. These are not confessions, this is just the script. This is not YEP as you know it, this is a trailblazing collaboration between Ugly Bucket Theatre and the Young Everyman Playhouse Company.

What happens when we fall between the cracks of right and wrong, legal and illegal? Is crime a choice that people make, or…is there any choice at all?

YEP and Ugly Bucket peel back the endless layers on a split second decision to steal a £20 note in a fierce and heartfelt maelstrom of new writing, clowning and physical theatre, wrapped in a celestial SOPHIE soundtrack.

We at Ugly Bucket spent 7 months working alongside the members of the Young Everyman and Playhouse company. We introduced YEP to our distinct mash-up style of clowning, physical theatre, music and personal testimony, exploring what themes the young people are passionate about. Crime, and society's judgement of it was the topic that resonated most and so THIS IS NOT A CRIME (this is just a play) was born and premiered on the Everyman main stage to ellated acclaim.
